
Kelly Clarkson was the American Dream's symbol when she was the winner of the first season of American Idol. She embodied the notion that you could be from anywhere, and suddenly become a star, something tangible that American viewers could cling to, and more importantly to buy. It was a huge success with her debut album. When she changed to a different record label, and getting more control over her voice her voice, her second album was the highest-selling American Idol album. Her achievements include extensive touring, recording many Top Ten songs, publishing two multi-Platinum album, being mentored and co-writing the bulk of her tunes. She also has numerous awards. She has received the following awards: four American Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, and three MTV Video Music Awards. She has garnered 98 major music award nominations and has won 70 of them.
