Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She is also a seasoned public speaking. She created Feminist Frequency, a site that features videos and comments discussing the depictions of females in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. She is the author and director of executive for Feminist Frequency A scholarly, non-profit website that explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. In her efforts to dispel the myths that are associated with females in pop culture she also seeks to bring attention to harassment targeted at women and other marginalized classes of the Internet world. Sarkeesian has a degree in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaker. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. From an early age Sarkeesian was captivated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. When she was still in school, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency website. She had a plan to create a web series examining gender representation in video games and ended up being the victim of a harassment online campaign. The incident did not deter her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered her resolve as feminist media critic. She has won several awards for her contributions to feminism. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for many years and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. The educational non-profit explores the role of women in the pop-culture narratives.
