Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Born in Winnipeg and was raised in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian native New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the talkative and inquisitive young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the honor. She won the role of Flora McGrath the daughter of a muffled Scottish pianist who in the middle of 19th century, moves to New Zealand for an arranged wedding when she answered an audition open to all; she was nine years old and had almost no previous acting experience. As a teenager she emigrated to the United States. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. In addition, she played an important role as a lead character in Fly Away Home, a movie from that same year. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a lesser part. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). In addition, she portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
