Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website, is a television personality, author, and philanthropist. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it before the age of 21. Following her graduation, she became a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. The fame of her name helped to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on politics news and culture. Arianna's fame began in 2003, when she declared herself an independent candidate in the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as one of the "most important women" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of their media company and also included several the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalists and consultants in management. While she was close with her father, the relationship she had to her mom shaped the rest of her life. In her earliest period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she is still well-known. When she was 16 years old her family moved into England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. In Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college and was the third and first female to be elected president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master in Economics. In the years following her degree, she was a columnist-critic as well as a TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
