Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her living through her vibrant and expansive imagination. Before she could write or read and compose her own music. She got her first guitar when she was 8 and started performing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. The following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. While in high school, she made herself known to the school community but her goals were bigger. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host in the late '60s, was looking for a singer for his program. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 and signed to RCA Records in 1968 and joined with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's band because the popularity of her solo albums such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached No. 1. for the first time since 1974.
