Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his parents and a commitment in the local community. The first time Selmon was born with Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. Another reason for his football career was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. He was awarded two championships as well as the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young people in America. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was the captain of the team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as Associate Director of Sports. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
